An immunomodulatory agent; selectively inhibits IL-12-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of TYK2 and STAT3 over JAK2 in primary mouse concanavalin A-activated T cells at 10 µM; does not inhibit EGFR (IC50 = >1,250 µM), unlike most tyrphostins, and has commonly been used as an inactive control for tyrphostin tyrosine kinase inhibitory activity; inhibits CD40L-induced IL-12 production and NF-κB translocation in primary mouse macrophages; reduces the development and severity of EAE in mice; inhibits GABA-induced activation of wild-type GABAA receptors and GABAAY365F/Y367F receptors expressed in Xenopus oocytes at 200 µM
