An antimicrobial peptide; active against the bacteria E. coli, S. aureus, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), and S. epidermidis and the fungus C. albicans (MICs = 2, 2, 4, 1, and 8 µM, respectively); induces inner membrane permeabilization in E. coli at 200 nM; reduces viral replication in HSV-1-infected Vero 76 cells at 5 µM; induces hemolysis of isolated human erythrocytes and is cytotoxic to isolated human neutrophils at 30 µM; increases survival in E. coli- or MRSA-infected mice but not P. aeruginosa-infected mice at 0.8 mg/kg
