A peptidomimetic antibiotic agent; forms self-aggregates in the presence of dsDNA (CAC = 8 µg/ml); selectively induces intracellular aggregation in B. subtilis over HEK293T cells at 128 µg/ml; active against S. aureus, MRSA, B. subtilis, E. faecium, and M. smegmatis (MICs = 8, 4, 4, 8, and 16 µg/ml, respectively); not cytotoxic to NIH3T3 or HK-2 cells (IC50s = >256 µg/ml for both); extended exposure of S. aureus or E. coli to dAPM-1 for greater than 40 and 30 days, respectively, does not induce resistance to dAPM-1; increases survival in a mouse model of S. aureus-induced sepsis at 10 mg/kg
