This creates peptides, for example, of the format ‘A1-X2-X3-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9’, ‘X1-A2-X3-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9, ‘X1-X2-A3-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9’, etc., where ‘A’ represents alanine, and ‘X’ represents any amino acid except cysteine (to prevent oligomerization or cyclization). The ability of a specific T-cell receptor (TCR) to recognise, for example, the ‘X1-A2-X3-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9’ library depends on the preference of this TCR for ‘A’ in position 2 of the peptide chain.
