A PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway inhibitor; reduces the phosphorylation of Akt and mTOR at 2 µM and decreases PI3K, Akt, and mTOR levels at 4 µM; cytotoxic to A549, BGC-823, PC3, MCF-7, and MDA-MB-231 cancer cells (IC50s = 14.81, 9.11, 9.04, 7.89, and 2.29 µM, respectively); induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase in MDA-MB-231 cells; decreases the mitochondrial membrane potential and GSH levels and increases ROS and intracellular calcium levels in MDA-MB-231 cells
