Antioxidant. Inhibitor of mitochondrial lipid peroxidation. Inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS; NOS II) expression via inactivation of NF-kappaB. DNA polymerase and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase inhibitor. Anti-aging compound with retinol-like effects on gene expression and properties of the skin.
