Enhances acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) gene expression. Increases insulin sensitivity. [2, 4, 6-9, 11]. Antihypertensive. Ca2+ influx inhibitor [3, 6]. Anticancer compound [5]. Chemopreventive [14]. Anti-inflammatory. IKKbeta, NF-kappaB and MAPK signaling inhibitor. Induces TNF-alpha, IL-1beta and nitric oxide release [10, 17, 18]. Immunomodulator. Increasees phagocytic activity, haemagglutination antibody titre, delayed type hypersensitivity. Increased proliferation in LPS and Con A stimulated B and T cells [12].
